A woman has been delivering medicine to remote villages near Sundergarh, eastern India, despite her disability.

Jayanti Tiga is unable to walk on her two legs and has to use her hands as support when moving around.

Around 150 families depend on her as she collects medicine and supplies from a medical centre and delivers them to remote places.

She said: "No matter how much we suffer, no matter how strong we are, nothing is impossible."

A handicapped woman has proven to be an excellent example for others who consider being handicapped as a curse.

Jayanti Tiga from the Indian state of Odisha walks using the support of her legs and hands and have been ferrying to Anganwadi centres in the times of Covid and has proven to be an excellent frontline worker.

Around 150 families depend on Jayanti as she performs her duties in the times of covid even in the hilly areas and help fight pandemic serving as a frontline worker.

Jayanti is in charge of the Bhavarkhol Mini Anganwadi Center under Lephripada block of Sundargarh district of Odisha and due to her strong will power as an Anganwadi worker, the burden of the village is on her head.

Jayanti Tiga is staying surrounded by forests in the Lephripada block. Every day, Jayanti runs out of her house. She first goes to the Anganwadi Center, sweeps and cleans, and gives service to the needy children by giving them medicine.

For covid19, she goes to school because she is a school dropout herself, next after that spending some time in the orphanage she goes to the homes of pregnant women to give her medicine and food. She comes from out-of-district to her home and village. It is difficult for her to climb a hill because the hill is unstable. Even so, owning one is still beyond the reach of the average person. "No matter how much we suffer, no matter how strong we are, nothing is impossible," she says inspiring everyone.

She says being handicapped is not a sin, instead of cursing they should not take it as an excuse and in fact show the world that more can be done as a handicapped than not being one.
