South African university students call for insourcing of campus support staff
Students at the University of Cape Town gathered to voice their demands for the insourcing of campus staff. They also raised concerns about student security and the quality of food provided to students living on campus. Since the Fees Must Fall movement started in 2015 students have also taken up the plight of campus staff who are often employed by external service providers and often don't enjoy the same benefits as university staff. The students handed over a memorandum of demands and threatened to shut down the campus if their demands are not addressed.
