Fields growing rice were submerged with the floods and the annual crop was destroyed after the deluge on September 24. A number of homes in nearby villages were also affected and residents were moved to temporary shelters.
Thailand and other countries in Southeast Asia such as Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines are in the middle of their tropical monsoon rainy season, which lasts until October or November.
