A woman armed with her walking stick managed to fend off an attacking leopard in Mumbai, Maharashtra.

A CCTV camera captured the incident on September 29 as a 55-year-old woman was attacked by a leopard outside her home.

Nirmaladevi Singh managed to quickly grab her walking stick and began beating the big cat until it retreated.

She suffered scratches to her face, elbow, arm, back and leg. Singh was admitted to hospital for treatment.

Visual feature of the incident showed that a leopard pounced on the woman, identified as Nirmaladevi Singh, from behind when she was sitting outside her house.

Elderly women suffered scratch marks on her face, elbow, arm, back and leg. However, the injuries were not serious as the leopard left soon after she started shouting for help.

Nirmaladevi was safe and admitted in Tramua hospital undergoing treatment.
