VIDEO: Boy, 12, impaled on bamboo pole after falling from 12-foot terrace onto dilapidated tin shed
Shocking footage shows the eye-watering injuries sustained by a 12-year-old boy who became impaled on a bamboo stick after falling from a terrace.
Saad, from Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, northern India, was playing with friends when he fell from a 12-foot height onto a dilapidated tin shed, where a bamboo stick became lodged in his shoulders.
The boy was rushed to hospital where doctors examined the foreign object penetrating his back’s vertebrae and decided to operate.
In a video taken at the hospital, brave Saad is seen standing upright with a sawn off bamboo pole piercing his body vertically at his shoulder, as doctors surround him before directing him to lay down.
During the three-hour operation, Saad remained conscious, with only his arm and the surrounding area numbed, as doctors struggled to remove the bamboo.
Eventually, doctors were able to successfully remove the large section of bamboo wood, which had been stuck between the child’s vertebra.
Saad is now reported to be out of danger and making a recovery from his traumatic ordeal, with some damage to his lungs.
The team of doctors who undertook the perilous operation included Dr. Bhanu Pratap, Dr. Rajat, Dr. Firoz, and Dr. Bushra.
