The anniversary of the 1973 student uprising against the dictatorship was marked by riots in Thessaloniki, Greece on November 17.

Large groups of hooded protesters hurled dozens of Molotov cocktails at police forces outside the Polytechnic School of Thessaloniki after a march.

Rioters set barricades to the streets and fires inside the university campus. Clashes broke out, and police forces responded using tear gas and stun grenades. Water cannon vehicles were mobilized in order to control the flames inside the university and disperse the rioters. At least five people were arrested.
