Footage has emerged of a sustained verbal and physical attack by two teenagers on an older man on a London bus on 1 February 2020.

As well as kicks and punches, the two teenagers brandished a pointed stick during the terrifying confrontation, during which the police do not appear to have been called by either passengers or the driver.

It is not clear what sparked the confrontation or what the older passenger's involvement was, except as a target of the younger mens' threats.

Shige Mancia was commuting home from work on the 210 bus going to Finsbury Park at 6pm on February 2020 when he filmed the altercation.

The teenagers were filmed shaking up a Lucozade bottle and letting it explode on the bus, before running off the vehicle to find a weapon to bring back on. The teenagers then brandish a stick at the man who was on the top deck of the bus.

Shige says: "I don't know what happened as I was sitting on the lower part of the double decker, but something happened upstairs with the two boys and the man and then they were fighting downstairs."

The man who was being targeted had something in his hand which Shige says "looked to be pepper spray."

Shige stopped filming when he thought the teenagers had stopped, but he says that the teenagers found large stones and ran to the next stop. Shige was incredulous when the driver let them back on the bus, saying he felt afraid.

It is not clear why the bus driver appeared to want the older man to get off the bus at the same time as his attackers, why they they did not appear to call the police, or why they allowed the teenagers back on the bus.

"Luckily the man knew that the teenagers were waiting for him so he got off before they got on with the big stones."

It is not known what happened to the man being attacked, when he got off the bus.

Violent verbal or physical confrontations have become worryingly common on London's busses in recent years.
