Pilots approaching Bristol Aiport in the UK during the peak of Storm Barra were forced to use all their experience and skill to land as their aircraft were buffeted by gale-force winds.

"Quite breathtaking to see these aircraft battling against the full force of mother nature as they come in to land," said the filmer, Mr Aviation Guy.

"At times the wind was gusting 40 knots (46mph) directly from the south," he added.

The footage was captured on December 7 between 9:25 and 13:15.

Storm Barra hit the UK on 7th December 2021, bringing incredibly strong gale force winds and torrential rain. In this video you will see a handful of plane landings at Bristol Airport on the day of the storm. ('crosswind') Just one aborted landing throughout the morning, but certainly plenty of tense approaches and landings. Shortly after lunchtime the landing direction was reversed as the wind had swung round to come from the south-west and aircraft try to land into wind where possible.
