This is the shocking moment a cheeky monitor lizard tried to enter a car showroom in northeastern Thailand.

Footage shows the creature pushing its body against the glass door to enter the shop in Udon Thani province.

Employee Tukta Nalinee said: 'The only creature that turned up at the entrance was a monitor lizard. There were no customers at all.'

The reptile eventually gave up trying to raid the showroom and left the property.

Asian water monitor lizards live in canals and ponds in large cities in Thailand where they feed on fish, snakes, frogs and scraps of food left by humans.

They are aggressive when threatened and have a mildly venomous bite which sometimes carries harmful bacteria.
