Scooter rider accidentally throttles motorbike, running over pedestrians in Paris

Buy video

Horrifying footage captured the moment a scooter rider accidentally throttled his motorbike into a crowd of people in Paris on 12 June 2019.

At Place de l'Opéra, the driver of a scooter is waiting on a red light when he gets off to check something near the front wheels.

As he does so, the bike falls and he tries to save it from crashing to the ground by grabbing it.

Unfortunately he grabs the nearest part of the handlebar to him -- the throttle -- which jerks the bike forwards.

Intuitively trying to keep hold of the bike as it races towards pedestrians, he clings on, which only has the effect of thrusting the bike through the crowd.

By the time he finally lets go of the throttle and the bike, he has left a trail of injured people.
