A doctor has shared gruesome footage of the scar tissue his patient was left with when removing her breast implants after she developed symptoms of suspected breast implant illness (BII).

Dr Anthony Youn, a holistic plastic surgeon from Michigan, US, shared the clip on TikTok with his 7.5 million followers earlier this week – where it has since left users horrified.

Explaining what happens once breast implants are removed, Dr Youn shows a patient of his who had silicone implants in 2008.

In the post, which was liked 188,000 times and viewed more than three million times, he says: “Over the last couple of years she has developed symptoms consistent with breast implant illness (BII).”

BII can develop after having breast implants, with symptoms including joint and muscle pain, fatigue, breathing problems, mental health issues and more.

Dr Youn shows a picture of the patient immediately after the operation to remove the implants.

He continues: “She’s going to continue to look better and better as she heals.”

He then shows the silicone implants still intact, in a plastic bowl after removal, and explains there is technically nothing wrong with them.

Next, Dr Youn shares the scar tissue he removed from the patient which surrounded the implants, in a procedure called a capsulectomy.

His followers were horrified by the gruesome clip, with more than 1,000 users taking to the comments section to share their reaction.

One person said: “The scar tissue is that normal??? Asking for a friend.”

“Scar tissue looks gnarly,” said another person.

Someone else agreed: “I audibly gasped at the scar tissue.”

“Forbidden bacon,” another user commented.

Someone else added: “That looks like the cheese we get on our pizza for school lunch.”

“A warning about the scar tissue would have been nice,” said another follower.

Another person joked: “Did the scar flesh thing look like bacon or am I just hungry.”

Meanwhile, other viewers shared their own experiences of BII and breast implants.

One person said: “I got my toxic bags out 3 months ago! I was so sick.”

“I got mine removed after 3 years and all my symptoms went away! The colour immediately came back to my face,” another user commented.

Someone else added: “I had an explant and capsulectomy in 2018. Best decision ever!!”

“I also had BII – had them taken out after only 6 years. It’s real!!” said another user.

Someone else commented: “Implants for 27 years. Almost all of the BII symptoms. Removed a year ago best decision ever. I have ME back. Can’t believe how sick I was cuz of them.” [sic]

“I have so much scar tissue from my removal. Happy they are out but the scarring for me makes me feel mutilated,” said another follower.

Other users expressed they wanted their own implants removed after watching the clip, while others were put off having implants at all.

One person said: “This just cancelled my want for implants.”
