The site of a former tobacco factory in the centre of Bangkok has been converted into a sprawling green park with views of the city's skyline.

The Benjakitti Park was extended and opened in January. It includes a two kilometre long concrete skywalk across wetlands with mounds of earth.

'The paths, both on the upper and lower levels, encourage you to keep walking and explore,' wrote local park critic Pravit Rojanaphruk.

'They are laid out seemingly at random, making getting lost fun.'

The park, which is maintained by Bangkok City Hall, covers around 25 acres on land that was once used by the Tobacco Authority of Thailand.

It has proven popular with locals taking selfies and videos for their Instragram and TikTok accounts, as well as joggers and tourists.

'The land of the lung-damaging manufacturer, has transformed itself into the new green lung of Bangkok,' according to regional newspaper the Bangkok Post.
