A clever monkey was filmed using a shawl to protect itself from the scorching heat in southern India's Andhra Pradesh.

The ingenious simian was spotted near Asian Highway 45 in Kalaparru on February 22.

Video showed the monkey sitting on top of a cart and under a piece of cloth it is using to guard itself from the searing sun.

When the filmer goes a little closer, the animal covers its face with the cloth.

However, to everyone's amazement, the monkey obliges the filmer's request and shows its face, twice, when asked to.
