Members of the BBC's "Top Gear" technical team were seen driving Volkswagen's electric version of their iconic Type 2 model, dubbed the hippie van.

The ID Buzz runs entirely on electric power and can run for up to 250 miles.

According to the filmer, this particular model is being loaned to the UK by VW Germany.

This footage was captured in Newquay, Cornwall, on March 14.

BBC Top Gear technical team are seen driving the all new unreleased fully electric VW ID Buzz, interested locals are fascinated. VW surf vans have always enjoyed a huge following in the resort. Including a claimed range of 250 miles on a full charge. The team are keen to keep it out of social media till the 6th of April. But huge interest will undoubtably be generated wherever it goes next.
