Fishermen concerned rising fuel costs could make fishing unviable in Kent, UK

Kent fishermen are concerned they could be put out of business by rising UK fuel costs.

Kent Online quotes Queenborough fisherman Dave Ferris as saying he has to be "careful of the everyday viability of going to sea" because of the price of red diesel.

Fishing boats have large fuel-tanks which are expensive to fill with red diesel, but they can't significantly increase the number of fish they can catch per day to cover increasing costs - a 'catch-22' situation.

Footage shows fishing boats 'high and dry' at low-tide in Queenborough creek this morning (March 21).
