Video filmed in the city of Shanghai on March 28 shows a mother and a daughter recording themselves riding a scooter chasing a woman who picked up a spring onion they dropped on the road.

After the mother and the daughter caught up with the woman, they can be heard saying: "Auntie, the spring onion was 20 yuan (£2.39). It is very expensive."

The woman then replied: "I did not know it was yours. If I knew, I would not take it."

According to the mother and the daughter, they spent 20 yuan to get three spring onions from a supermarket but they lost one accidentally on their way back home.

The dropped spring onion was later picked up and taken away by another woman.

Since it was not cheap, the mother and the daughter decided to chase after the woman to get their lost spring onion back.

Since the woman was easy to deal with and they also showed the receipt to her. The woman finally returned the spring onion to them.

An employee from Shanghai Market Supervision Department said the lockdown in the city has caused the demand of living supplies to rise, making the price of some vegetables increase.
