Around 200 Chelsea supporters protested against a bid to buy the club made by the American-based Ricketts family (April 2).

The fans gathered ahead of the English Premier League match against Brentford to say: "We don't want you here."

A survey conducted by the Chelsea Supporters' Trust says that 77% of members are against the bid by the family, who have made controversial homophobic, racist and Islamaphobic comments.

The club was put up for sale after it was seized over owner Roman Abramovich's links to Russian president Vladamir Putin.

UK businessman Jonathan Goldstein, Sir Martin Broughton and Lord Sebastian Coe, the Chicago Cubs-owning Ricketts family, Todd Boehly and Boston Celtics co-owner Stephen Pagliuca are still in the running.

In a statement last month, the Ricketts family said: “Our family rejects any form of hate in the strongest possible terms. Racism and Islamophobia have no place whatsoever in our society. We have developed deep and abiding partnerships with the Muslim community in Chicago, as well as with all communities of colour."
