A farmer was castrated by two angry buffaloes when he tried to stop them from fighting.

Chakapan Koklaiklang, 40, was tending to the animals outside their home in Buriram province, Thailand when they started goring each other on April 21.

The farmer, having bred buffalo for years, thought that the animals would listen to him when he stepped between them to end the duel. However, the furious beasts turned on him instead before ramming their horns into his crotch.

His testicles were pulverised from the repeated impact of the horns. They ruptured and sent blood pouring out onto the ground.

Chakapan's shocked mother Kaklaiklang, 57, called the emergency services and paramedics found Chakapan lying about 30 meters away from the buffalo enclosure with a large wound on his testicles and thighs, while his chest was also bruised.

Koklaiklang said: ‘We bought the male buffalo and named it Kluay six months ago and bought another one and named it Pao about a week back. These two don’t get along and would fight whenever they had the chance to.

‘My son tried letting them graze together so they would get familiar with each other’s presence but nothing worked. Kluay is normally very calm, I’m surprised he hurt my son. I will have to watch out until the both of them get along.’

Rescue volunteers had to perform first aid at the scene before rushing Chakapan to Nang Rong Hospital for treatment. Doctors said his testicles had been burst by the impact of the horns.

The farmer is in a stable condition now medics are monitoring his injured genitals.
