This cash occurred in Inverness Florida in Citrus County on the evening of September 9th 2020 on the street right front of our house and was captured on our Ring doorbell camera. I happened to be standing in our doorway at the time and witnessed the whole thing unfold. The driver and his wife, though she was walking with a slight limp, thankfully managed to escape serious injury. He was believed to be driving while impaired (due to the odor of an intoxicant, slurring of speech, and unstable motor skills) though he and his wife stated that she was driving so he could avoid any consequences . For some unknown reason they left the scene of the accident against our advice (to avoid causing any more unseen injury's) and walked to their house, got in her Chevrolet HHR and got back to the scene before the authorities got there. By the time the CCSO and FHP got to the scene, he had already cleaned up most of the things that had flown out of the truck during the crash (beer cans, a cooler, whisky bottles, etc. were strewn about). The truck, after flipping three and a half times into the yard of an unoccupied house, came to rest on its top. Needless to say he was never charged with any violations as they could not prove he was driving. Neither the driver or the wife was charged with leaving the scene of an accident They live about a quarter mile from us on the same street which is posted as a 25 MPH speed zone. The estimated speed before losing control and overturning was 80-85 MPH. The truck, a Toyota Tacoma 4x4 , was a total loss.
