This is the dramatic moment brave passers-by came to the rescue of a woman as a man attempted to snatch her bag in the Russian Far East.

The woman was walking with a child on Pogranichnaya Street in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk on April 25 when the man approached from behind and grabbed her handbag.

The unidentified woman resisted for several moments until two men saw what was going on and ran over to help.

One of them kicked the robber knocking him to the ground and then delivered another swift knee to the head.

Police arrived soon afterwards and detained a 32-year-old who later confessed.

A woman was walking with a child in the area of ​​house number 22 along Pogranichnaya Street, suddenly an unknown man ran up to her and tried to forcefully pull her purse out of her hands. She resisted in every possible way and held the bag until random passers-by arrived to help her, one of whom knocked the robber down. Everything happened in a matter of minutes.

Police officers immediately arrived at the scene and took the detained citizen to the city police department for further investigation. In the course of work on the spot, a witness was interviewed, a bag and recordings from a video surveillance camera were seized, and other measures were taken.

The detained 32-year-old local resident confessed. The citizen is currently in custody.
