Dramatic CCTV footage has emerged from China of bus commuters helping restrain a man who was trying to escape after 'stealing a phone'.

In the video, captured on bus security cameras in Yunnan Province last week, the 'thief' can be seen jumping on the bus as it leaves when the owner of the phone runs up and stops it.

Passengers then help the owner keep the man there, waiting for police. He makes an attempt to escape through the bus window - leading to a pulling match between them.

According to local reports the victim was a student waiting at the bus stop. Police attended and arrested the man - investigations continue.
