The 'March of Black Women' returned to the streets of Sao Paulo in Brazil on Monday, for the first time since the pandemic began.

July 25 is Black Latin American and Caribbean Women's Day and the National Day of Tereza de Benguela, an 18th Century Black leader who resisted slavery.

Thousands of Black Latin American and Caribbean women marched through downtown Sao Paulo on Monday night to protest against discrimination, as well as to celebrate Black Latin American and Caribbean Women's Day, and Tereza de Benguela Day.

The march began at 5:30pm local time in Praça da República, downtown São Paulo.

A flag read: “Neither hunger, nor shooting, nor jail, nor Covid, stop killing us”.
