Operation Escudo takes place after the murder of Patrick Reis Route soldier, in Guarujá. Ombudsman received complaints of excesses by the corporation. A survey shows that this year's action surpassed deaths from 'operation Castelinho', which in 2002 left 16 dead.
Representatives of the black movement and political parties held an act in front of the Secretariat of Public Security (SSP) building this Thursday (3) against the deaths in Guarujá, on the coast of São Paulo, and asking for the end of Operation Shield of the Military Police (PM).
The streets around the secretariat, at Praça Ouvidor Pacheco e Silva, were cordoned off by the PM, who accompanied the protest.
The purpose of the PM operation is to locate and arrest the killers of Patrick Bastos Reis, a soldier of the Rondas Ostensivas Tobias de Aguiar (Rota), an elite troop of the corporation, shot dead by criminals last Thursday (27) in Guarujá, left at least 16 dead until this Thursday in Baixada Santista (south coast of São Paulo).

SOT 00:14:00 -Leticia – what we see is that the military police of São Paulo have been entering the communities for a long time to repress, what happened is not new and for us this is a bit of the reflection that which is militarization in Brazil, who is black and who is poor does not feel safe with the police and we know that what is happening in Guarujá would not happen if they were in Jardins, if it were on Avenida Paulista (upscale neighborhoods of São Paulo ).
SOT 00:56:00 -Osvaldo – we are here doing an act of protest, because, according to the police, to the secretary of security, those killed are all criminals! But they didn't show the ID of these people, they didn't show anything and normally they kill 15, 20, 2 or 3 that is, half a dozen, they could be bandits and even then they don't give them the right to make a judgment without defense, but it goes along with a series of innocents, many innocents!

SOT 01:46:00 -Fabiana – Brazil does not have the death penalty, we cannot naturalize this type of thing, it is... being still justified as a security policy, this is not a security policy and we are here to to say that black lives matter, this is a very well defined policy, with a very well defined objective, which is to massacre the majority of the population that lives in the peripheries and that is mostly black!
