A volcanic eruption in the Reykjanes peninsula, near Reykjavik, has been captured in stunning drone footage.

The aerial visuals shot on August 3 show clouds of smoke rising up into the air near the site of the Fagradalsfjall volcano.

A 4.6-magnitude earthquake was recorded near the site, prompting further volcanic activity.

The Icelandic Met Office has warned people not to go near the volcano and does not believe the eruption will cancel any flights.
