Twelve farms were evacuated after rainfall triggered around 20 landslides in the Kinn and Útkinn areas of northern Iceland.

Visuals from October 6 shows the damage caused by the landslides after 9 inches of rain fell in just 48 hours.

20 landslides occurred over the weekend in the Kinn and Útkinn areas, southwest of Húsavík, North Iceland, sending large amounts of mud into lowlands and fields. 12 farmhouses were evacuated but that has never happened before in this region. Precipitation in the area amounted to up to 230 mm (9 in) in only 48 hours. The extent of damages remains unclear to this moment, but fences have been destroyed andfields have been damaged. Power lines and Fiber-Optic cables have been cut.
