Amid tensions between the Indo-China along the Line of Actual Control (LAC), especially since 2020, the central government told the Rajya Sabha that India has constructed all-weather roads measuring 2,088 km along improve connectivity to areas near the India-China border over the last five years, with the construction activity reflecting New Delhi’s focus on infrastructure development in forward areas.

Recently, India urged the avoidance of unilateral actions to change the status quo in the Taiwan Strait and efforts should be made to maintain peace and stability in the region.

India indirectly called upon China on August 12, 2022 to not alter the "status quo" around Taiwan, and cautioned that the current situation should not lead to any "unilateral action". Addressing the weekly press briefing, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Arindam Bagchi refrained from spelling out India's clear position on the 'One China' policy but conveyed the impression that India's stand on China's claims over Taiwan is linked to Beijing's persistent unwillingness to support India's campaign against Pakistan-terror elements.
