A popular TikToker who regularly shares his top tips and tricks for travelling has revealed how much people can claim if their flight is delayed.

As the UK gears up to travel across the world this summer holiday, with people jetting to sunny destinations for ultimate relaxation – many have been left with "travelling nightmares."

For months, airports across the country have suffered with delays, cancelled flights and hours-long queues, due to a lack of staff and pilots.

As a result, people have been left unable to board their booked flights and in some cases, jet-setters have had their holidays cancelled entirely, with no compensation in sight.

Gabriel Nussbaum, 25, a content creator, from London, often shares his top money advice and tips on social media – with a focus on travel.

In one of his clips, the “savvy” expert discusses flight delays and the compensation that should be due to the customer, which many airlines keep secret.

He begins the video by asking: “Do you know anyone who has been queuing in British airports recently?”

Gabriel proceeds to reenact a scene where customers are informed their flight has been delayed for six hours.

As a gesture of goodwill, the airline offers all passengers one free meal as compensation – but Gabriel quickly points out that’s not all they’re due.

He claims that any delays over four hours, where the flight exceeds 2,100 miles, entitles each passenger to £500 compensation according to EU261.

The “life saving” video has racked up 4.1 million views and nearly 400,000 likes – with many viewers sharing their experiences in the comments.

“Yeah my flight was cancelled twice and delayed so I got £525 for each flight so up to 1000 for compensation,” one person said. [sic]

Another person added: “I got delayed 30 hours and they are trying to give £150 per booking.”

“This happened to me and my family we received £600,” someone else commented.

Another viewer added: “Should have known this when my flight got delayed eight hours.”

One person offered further advice, so people don’t get caught out using the trick: “Only if it is the airlines fault, we couldn’t as it wasn’t their fault it was a passenger onboard.”

For Gabriel, he decided to start sharing his money saving tips and tricks as he wanted to provide insight on all the topics which we don’t often learn about in school.

“I had always wanted to make content, but didn’t have time during university,” Gabriel told NeedToKnow.Online.

“After university, I had more time and started making content on YouTube.

“Six months later, I tried out TikTok and decided to focus solely on finance and financial literacy.”

Now, he’s shared further travel hacks, so people can really make the most out of their holiday – delayed, cancelled or not.

In another clip, he discusses how to get upgraded to first class for free with a few simple tips: turn up early, dress smart and always remember to ask.

Other tips include how to save money while abroad, by selecting to use the local currency if using a credit card and the best travel websites to find great deals.
