A beautiful tourist beach turned gloomy as skies were overcast due to Typhoon Hinnamnor in the Philippines on Friday.

Video shows waves slamming into the Basco port in Batanes province, where storm signal number 2 - indicating a 'minor to moderate' threat to life and property - was raised on September 2.

State weather agency PAGASA said Hinnamnor, locally known as Henry, entered the Philippine weather monitoring area at 5:30 pm local time on Wednesday.

Meteorologists said it is unlikely to make landfall, but may enhance the effects of the southwest monsoon over Luzon.

The country's national disaster council on Friday said it is verifying reports that one person from the Cordillera Administrative Region - a cluster of six provinces in northern Philippines - was killed in a landslide due to the typhoon.

Hinnamnor was previously designated a 'super typhoon' but was downgraded to a typhoon while lingering east of Batanes, the country's northernmost province, on Friday.
