Heavy rain pummeled eastern China suburbs as the country braces for Typhoon Muifa's impact on Wednesday.

Authorities in the eastern region have ordered ships to return to port as Muifa, locally known as 'Meihua,' closes in on China.
The storm reportedly intensified in the East China Sea on Wednesday. Local media said it is expected to slam between the cities of Wenling and Zhoushan on Wednesday evening before making a second landfall in Shanghai.
A red flash flood warning - the most severe in China's colour-coded system - was raised over several areas in Zhejiang.
