This is the dramatic moment motorcycles were swept by a strong current when a river overflowed due to Super Typhoon Doksuri.

The motorists were driving through Laua-an Town in Antique province, while flash floods submerged the road on July 25.

Footage shows locals using a backhoe trying to block the torrent for the motorcycles to pass. However, the current proved too strong and swept the vehicles off the pavement.

Residents were seen scrambling to drag the fallen motorcycles out of the water before they could be washed away further downstream.

The typhoon, known as Egay in the Philippines, battered the country with gale-force winds and heavy rain, killing at least one person, the country's national disaster agency said.

Forecasters said Doksuri left the Philippine monitoring zone and was expected to track northwest towards Taiwan and China, with landfall possible in eastern Guangdong or the Fujian on the Chinese mainland.
