Tension outside Boston Children's Hospital as anti-trans protests continue
Tense scenes between trans youth activists and police occurred on Sunday (September 18) as protesters and counterprotestors gathered outside Boston Children's Hospital.
Anti-transgender protesters were present to speak against transition treatment on young people and held aloft signs reading, "Gender ideology does not belong in schools" and "Children cannot consent to puberty blockers."
They were met by counterprotesters in support trans youth rights who chanted, "Nazi scum, off our streets!" and "We want trans rights!"
Boston Police kept the two groups apart.
Boston Children's Hospital became the focus of the far-right last month after YouTube videos it had posted about surgical offerings for transgender patients. The videos became the focus of far-right commentary.
