These dogs have been trained to fetch beer and gin for their owners
A pair of clever cocker spaniels have learned to fetch beer and gin and tonic for their owner who can’t wait to have them as BBQ waiters.
Keith Towell’s faithful pooches Nelly and Lucy have proved they are truly man’s best friends after they learned to fetch boozy drinks in just 20 minutes.
Fantastic footage shows Keith, 45, telling Nelly, to "find the beer" at home in Wiltshire to which the brown spaniel scampers out of sight.
Within 10 seconds Nelly returns with a can of Budweiser gently in her mouth and hands it directly to Keith.
Another clip shows Lucy, Nelly’s 6-month-old daughter, react to Keith’s commands and return with the beer within 20 seconds.
Keith said: “I can’t wait to have BBQ parties in the summer with Nelly as head waitress and Lucy as her trainee.
“Nelly already understood the command ‘find’ so it was relatively easy to add the beer command. It only took about 20 minutes to master finding the cans.
“Fortunately, no beer was wasted in their training. We started off with an empty can and once they had become used to that, we progressed to a full can.
“Nelly has such a soft mouth that she collects the eggs from our chicken coop without damaging them.
“They both understand the command ‘gin’, so can differentiate between that and beer, bringing back a premixed can of gin and tonic on command.”
