A brave woman stopped traffic on a busy bridge to rescue a kitten stranded on the road.

Lee Hanbi was crossing the Hangang Bridge in Seoul, South Korea, on May 11 when she spotted a small black dot stuck in the second lane.

Heartstopping footage – which has been viewed more than 5million times – shows cars driving over the dark figure and not stopping.

Lee bravely jumped out of her car and signalled to stop the vehicles before scooping up the scared kitten in her arms and taking it to safety.

Lee said: “While I was stopping and getting out of the car, my heart was racing and I was so nervous that something might go wrong with the kitten.

“I felt relieved right after the rescue and was glad that I was able to rescue it in good health.

“While driving, I realised that it was a cat as I got closer to what I thought was a plastic bag.

“I stopped at a traffic light and found it shortly after I started driving off again. That made it easier to stop the car.

“I temporarily looked after it before giving it to my relative for adoption.”
