This is the dramatic moment a huge tree collapsed into the road - hitting electricity cables in a hail of sparks.

The old tree, more than 150 years old, had been weakened by months of continuous rain before Typhoon Noru dealt the final blow earlier this month.

Dashcam footage from an oncoming driver captured the uprooted tree crashing into the road just yards from cars. Miraculously, no motorists were injured.

The driver said: 'I'm relieved that the tree didn't fall on my car. It's lucky that it didn't hit any of the other vehicles on the road.'

Thailand has experienced severe flooding this year.

Meteorologists have blamed climate change for the sustained heavy rain, which has been hitting the Thai capital and provinces around the country causing heavy floods for several weeks.

Thailand's Center for Climate Change and Disaster claimed the coming months could see heavier, longer rainfalls, due to 'climate change'.

Local media reported that the country has this year seen 'an unusually sustained and persistent rainy season'.

The heavy rain has been compounded by the deluge from Typhoon Noru, which dumped water in the northeast region of the country, causing rivers flowing into the central region to swell.
