25-year-old women's rights activist Zainab Rahimi arrested by Taliban
Zainab Rahimi, a 25-year-old Hazara woman and female activist from Kabul, Afghanistan, was arrested by the Taliban yesterday (November 4).
Zainab, a psychology student, is well-known in the country and internationally for her campaigns promoting women's rights and for raising awareness on the treatment of the Hazaras ethnic group in Afghanistan.
A local source that cannot be named said that the 25-year-old woman was "taken to an unknown place" and added that she will probably be "tortured and forced to confess" her involvement in the protests, which the Taliban constantly repress.
The source also called on the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) to intervene in the case.
The footage shows Zainab joining protests in Afghanistan this year (2022) in the following areas of Kabul: Dasht-e-Barchi, Poksoktha, Ali Jinah hospital, and Gulbahar Center.
