An American citizen working for an international aid organization was shot dead while driving in the center of Iraq's capital, Baghdad, yesterday (November 7).

Security forces indicated that the man reported chest injuries and died before he was transferred to Sheikh Zayed Hospital.

A police source claimed that the man was carrying an identity card showing his job as an English teacher.

The Iraqi police said that the murder was a kidnapping attempt.

The identity of the assailants is unknown.
