At least 80 climate activists gathered at Nantes airport, France, yesterday and took a nap on the floor to denounce the impact of the aerial traffic.

Residents and activists complain about the risks posed to the environment along with noise pollution. A curfew from midnight to 6 am was enacted in the city, but people claim to have counted hundreds of violations in the last few months. Activists now want a curfew lasting from 11 pm to 7 am.

On sunday 13th november, around 80 climate activists gathered in Nantes' airport to take a nap. An action of civil disobedience to denounce the impact of the aerial traffic on the inhabitants : the airplanes pass over the city before landing, with all the noise that comes with it. A curfew that goes from midnight to 6am was implemented in the city, but the activist have counted hundreds of violations in the last few months. As the World Health Organization recommends, the activists want the curfew to be respected, but also that it lasts from 11pm to 7am, which would allow better sleeping conditions for the people of Nantes.
They also denounced the overall impact of the aerial traffic on the climate crisis, as they asked for more funding toward alternatives (train for transportaton of goods and people, especially for small travels), and also the cancellation of any extension of the airport from now on and the reduction of traffic on a more global scale.
As they got inside the airport hall, the activist layed on the ground with their teddy and took a nap while wearing pyjamas. After a few minutes, people dressed as planes disturbed them, before pillows were thrown at them.
Before leaving the place, the activists took a picture in front of the building.
