Beauty queen pageant hopefuls ride boat through floating market in Thailand
Beauty queen pageant hopefuls toured through one of Thailand's most popular floating markets on Tuesday in a bid to stimulate local tourism.
Twenty-five contestants from the Mrs. Asia International 2022 pageant rode boats through the Damnoen Saduak Floating Market in Ratchaburi province on November 22 to promote the event and experience villagers' everyday lives.
Vendors' livelihoods at the popular tourist spot were in the doldrums after the Covid-19 pandemic spread.
As curbs start to ease in Thailand, pageant organisers ERM said they prepared the beauty contest as a way to revitalise the local economy.
The event will run from November 20 to November 27, with the culmination being held at the Na Tree Tara Hotel in Samut Songkhram province.
