The section 89 panel report into allegations of money laundering at President Cyril Ramaphosa’s Phala Phala game farm was ceremoniously handed over to the speaker of South Africa’s parliament. The panel was chaired by retired chief justice Sandile Ngcobo. The report was received by speaker of parliament Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula.

Retired Justice Ngcobo said the job of the panel was only to interrogate the information presented to it by members of parliament. Ngcobo said it was not the duty of the panel to hand its findings to any law enforcement authority.

Mapisa-Nqakula said the report would be communicated to members of parliament for consideration on 6 December in the National Assembly. Based on the considerations of the National Assembly it will then be decided whether or not to impeach president Cyril Ramaphosa.
