Palestinians clashed with Israeli forces following the funeral of a father-of-eight shot and killed during a raid.

Samir Aslan, 41, died from a bullet wound to his chest while he was on the roof of his house during the arrest of his son, Ramzi, by troops in Qalandia refugee camp, north of Jerusalem, on January 12.

Hundreds of residents later joined the procession from the front of the Palestine Medical Complex in Ramallah, to his house in Qalandia, where his family viewed his body, before it was transferred to the camp mosque, where the mourners performed the funeral prayer for him before burial.

Mourners gathered outside raising the Palestinian flag and chanting angry anti-Israel messages.

According to local sources, clashes later broke out with Israeli forces near the entrance to the Qalandia checkpoint in Jerusalem, where soldiers fired tear gas bombs and rubber bullets at the youths who threw stones and Molotov cocktails at the soldiers.

In the aftermath of the confrontations, traffic was disrupted and hundreds of cars heading to Jerusalem stopped at the crossing.
