VARIOUS OF CROWD CARRYING FLAGS AND CHANTING SLOGANS DURING FUNERAL FOR 18-YEAR-OLD PALESTINIAN HAMDAN MUSA MOHAMMED ABU ALIYAWEST BANK, PALESTINE - AUGUST 17: A funeral was held on Sunday, August 17, for 18-year-old Palestinian Hamdan Musa Mohammad Abu Aliya, who was shot dead by Israeli forces during a raid on al-Mugayyir village, northeast of Ramallah in the occupied West Bank. According to Palestinian news agency WAFA, Israeli soldiers raided the village on Saturday and shot Abu Alya in the back with live ammunition before reportedly beating him. He died from his injuries. Since Israel launched its assault on the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023, Israeli forces have intensified raids, arrests and attacks across the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem. At least 1,014 Palestinians have been killed and more than 7,000 injured in the West Bank by Israeli forces and settlers since October 2023, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry. In a landmark opinion last July, the International Court of Justice declared Israel’s occupation of Palestinian territory illegal, demanding the evacuation of all settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
