Tourists enjoyed a daredevil fairground ride being manually pushed by tireless workers at a carnival in Indonesia.

Footage shows dozens of revellers sitting on the orbiting metal ring as they swayed around a brightly-lit base in Manado on January 15.

The ride was powered by at least four workers leaping on the bars and swinging around the bends to propel the structure with enough power to entertain the people sitting inside.

While many fairground rides need energy-hungry hydraulics to power them, this quaint attraction was propelled entirely with human elbow grease.

Onlooker Jo Ann Landicho said the operators were skilled and experienced so the ride was safe.

She said: ‘The men were manning the carnival ride and operating it manually. We enjoyed watching them play and swing in the air or jump up the ring while it orbited.

'They were like gymnasts.'
