A rat snake found inside a terrified woman's toilet was rescued in Thailand.

The serpent was coiled on the corner of the tiled floor when the house owner entered in Nakhon Ratchasima province on January 19.

A rescuer later arrived at the property to catch it using a cloth mop. Footage shows the volunteer pressing the snake's head using the cleaning tool.

The volunteer spent only less than two minutes before easily securing the animal.

Rescuer Somsak Sruangsombat said: ‘The house owner informed us that there was a black snake inside. We want to advise everyone to inspect rarely used rooms before entering.

‘Snakes could build their nest or enter through the toilet and the drain. Installing covers would help.'

The snake was taken out of the home and released back to nature. It was unhurt and healthy.
