A wild snake that became stuck in a sticky mouse trap was rescued.

The 4ft-long serpent slithered through the family's trash bin looking for food when it was caught on the glue trap in Bangkok, Thailand on July 26.

It was rustling inside the can and discovered by the house owner, who called the animal rescuers for help.

Footage shows the wildlife volunteers pulling the creature from the trap and wiping off some of the glue from its body.

House owner Suchart Jirachorpaisarn said: ‘I've seen the snake moving around my house before. I never expected it to show up again on a mouse trap.

‘It looked like it was in pain so I called the specialists to free it. At least this time, it won't return to my property.'

The animal rescue volunteers slowly pulled the snake out of the sticky surface and used vegetable oil to loosen up the tight grip.

After an hour, the team successfully freed the snake. They kept the snake in a fertilizer sack and would later release it to the wild.
