Hot-tempered stallholders hurled fish at each other in a frenzied market fight.

Footage shows milkfish flying across the tables as the angry camps used them to attack one another in Tarlac province, the Philippines on January 14.

The fish fight allegedly started when Jonas Patawaran accidentally stepped on fellow seller Marissa Cawigan's foot in the crowded wet market.

However, their families had a misunderstanding when the younger Jonas went to Marissa's store to discuss.

Jonas said: ‘I went there with my family to say sorry but everything happened so fast. The next thing we knew the milkfish were flying around.'

On the other hand, Marissa said Jonas was rude and did not respect the elderly.

She said: ‘It was like he wasn't sorry about stepping on my foot. He should know how to be sincere.'

Meanwhile, onlooker Elmer Apostol said the two fighting groups were stopped by market security.

He said: ‘All the market-goers stopped to watch what was happening. Dozens of kilograms of fish were destroyed.'

The two families reportedly apologised to each other later at a hearing organised by village officials.
