American television host Conan O'Brien greeted fans who spotted him filming a show in the Philippines.

Footage shows Conan waving and cheerfully calling out to delighted locals who recognised him from across a road in the capital Manila on October 15.

He said: ‘Hello, hi. Say hi, Conan, again.'

The comedian then pointed to a humorous billboard featuring his face photoshopped onto a muscular body, which was used to promote the local candy Tarzan Bubblegum.

Fan Nico Arbo said: ‘We were about to head back to Taguig City after work, then suddenly saw Conan O'Brien filming along JP Rizal!

‘It was perfect timing, thanks to traffic. I called out to him and he said 'hi'. Core memory unlocked.'

Conan O'Brien's collaboration with the candy brand Philip Candies began after he interviewed Filipino engineer Charles de Guia on his podcast.

During their chat, Charles mentioned that his family's small candy business in the Philippines was struggling.

Months later, while filming in Manila, Conan visited the factory and launched a surprise billboard campaign to help promote the brand.
