The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) successfully launched a rocket into space on Friday (February 10).

The Small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV-D2) was sent into space from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Andhra Pradesh.

SSLV-D2 successfully sent three satellites into orbit.

Last year, the rocket failed to inject the satellites into orbit.

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) launched the second edition of the Small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV-D2) rocket in southern India's Andhra Pradesh.

The incident is reported to have happened in Sriharikota on February 10.

Visuals showed the rocket successfully jetting off into the sky. According to a report, EOS-07, US-based firm Antaris' Janus-1, and Chennai-based space startup SpaceKidz's AzaadiSAT-2 are the three satellites that will be put into a 450 km circular orbit during a 15-minute flight.

'After this launch today, we are preparing to start the launch campaign of PSLV-C55. This lunch is for NSIL and will probably be launched by March end. So the launch campaign will begin today with the rocket being placed on the launch pedestal in a new facility,'' ISRO Chief S Somnath, said.

Last year, the rocket, which is 2-metre in diameter and 34-metre tall, failed to inject the satellites into orbit last year. The SSLV can launch mini, micro or nano satellites in the 10-500 kg segment into the 500 km planar orbit, according to the ISRO.
