A caring teacher went above and beyond her duties when she washed the hair of pupils who were infected with lice.

Thitima Khongkanakin said the youngster could not concentrate properly during lessons due to extremely itchy parasites in Phitsanulok province, Thailand on February 2.

Feeling sorry for the kids, teacher Thitima went the extra mile and decided to start a routine of cleaning the children's hair before every class.

Footage shows the loving teacher scrubbing the kids' heads with shampoo and water outside her classroom. When their hair was cleaned, Thitima used a comb and blow dryer and remove the lice while the giggly children enjoy the hairstyling treat.

Teacher Thitima said: ‘I have a lot of students who had head lice problems. At first, I gave them lice shampoo to use at home but nothing happened.

‘It's hard to study if your head kept on itching so I took the matter into my hands. I brought a blow dryer and comb to clean their heads.'

The teacher added that most students who had lice were from lower-income families whose parents were mostly away from home working.

She said: ‘Another factor is that my students who had lice do not receive enough guidance when it comes to hygiene because their parents are out working. I don't blame them. I thought I will just do what I can to help them.'
