A stranded cat miraculously survived leaping 120ft from the 16th floor of an apartment block.

The black and white stray ran past security guards at the condominium and clambered out of a window in Cebu province, the Philippines on February 21 afternoon.

Concerned residents found the scared moggy balancing on a narrow ledge so they called the firemen for help.

But when the team arrived, it was seemingly even more frightened by the commotion and jumped from the dizzying height.

Footage shows the tiny figure of a cat sitting on the corner of the ledge as a fireman climbs out of the window before attempting to reach the creature with a net catcher.

Resident Al Bacolod said: ‘We were watching from my unit. The cat was trapped on another tower.'

Al added the team tried to lure the feline first with a chicken wing but to no avail.

He said: ‘It was weak and dehydrated. A rescuer strapped in harness came out the window but then the cat made a suicide jump.'

The cat plunged down 15 levels from the 16th floor to the roof of the second floor - a plunge of around 120ft or 37 metres.

Rescue team members were waiting on the roof and immediately checked on the creature, but it was miraculously unscathed from the high jump.

Al said: ‘Thank God. The cat was then rushed to the veterinary clinic and was attended to immediately. So far, there were no fractures but only minor injuries on the mouth. Indeed, cats have nine lives.'

The cat, aptly named Lucky, will live with the residents until it recovers and a new family adopts it.
