A busy intersection in southern China has been fitted with 78 surveillance cameras.

Video filmed in Chongqing on February 25 shows 39 surveillance cameras having been installed on a pole at an intersection of Jinkai Avenue and Hemu Road.

Chongqing Traffic Police announced that a new set of monitoring, lighting and traffic flow equipment had been installed at the intersection as part of the Intelligent Traffic Phase II Holographic Intersection Project.

The new equipment was connected and tested with the existing devices and the old equipment was planned to be removed within two or three days after the testing was completed.

By the early morning of February 26, the testing was finished and the old equipment was removed, leaving behind 34 devices.

These devices include eight cameras, 24 lighting fixtures and two traffic flow monitoring devices, which were all designed and built according to the standards set by the Ministry of Public Security and Intelligent Traffic regulations.

The video was provided by local media with permission.
